You are bringing a valid case here.

Poison pills are common due to due many reasons. Messages with malformed payloads and unsatisfied business conditions are few reasons for them.

If that's a queue we are dealing with, then we can simply put the message in to the DLQ. But here, we have a few choices. We can move it to the poison messages topic like you said.

In fact, this requires a separate thought process. I will do some reading on this and probably see you with an article of its own.
